Combat Holiday Weight Gain!

Contrary to what the title may indicate, this post has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I ate iced pound cake for breakfast this morning. And cookies for dinner last night. No, in fact, this post has more to do with holiday decorations - specifically, those displayed in the yards of people (undoubtedly) across America. My neighbor around the corner has placed one of the increasingly popular (why?) plastic glowing nativity scenes in his yard. The simple arrangement features Mary and Joseph kneeling beside the baby Jesus, as can be seen here:

While many folks who choose to decorate their yards with such things often nestle the baby Jesus in a bed of hay, or perhaps in a handmade or store bought manger like the one in the picture, my neighbor has instead placed the lovely plastic rendition of the Savior of mankind on a couple of two-by-fours. This is interesting because, as you can see in the picture, baby Jesus is molded into a kind of fetal/I'm doing crunches kind of position. When placed in a manger or on a bed of hay, this position is not as noticable. However, when placed on a couple of boards, it really just looks like Jesus is working on his six-pack. And nothing says "Merry Christmas" like Jesus with abs of steel.
