We've been on vacation for the past week or so, spending time with family before making our big move to mess with Texas. On a quest to find some rockin' tunes for the grandchildren (my mom's, not mine), my mom came across a CD of children's songs sung by legendary folk artists Peter, Paul, and Mary. The album was aptly titled Peter, Paul, and Mommy. Cute, huh?*
Anyway, mom let me listen to some of the songs on the album. One of them, called Make-Believe Town, has some crazy lyrics. Here's one verse:
Well the monkey who lives
In make-believe town
He loves to drink saffron tea
He sits on the veranda
And talks to the panda
And then he jumps into the sea
He jumps into the sea because it is green
He jumps into the sea to visit the queen
I think Hunter S. Thompson wrote about "Make-Believe Town" in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, only he didn't call it "Make -Believe Town." He called it an ether binge. Eh, well. Tomato, tomato.
*If by "cute" I mean "really, really dumb," and by "huh" I mean "no, really. Dumb."
